Chick peas cooked in a different mild gravy made with spinach purée, onions and tomatoes.
Ingredients
- 5 cups chopped spinach (palak)
- ½ cup boiled kabuli chana (white chick peas)
- 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
- ½ cup chopped onions
- ½ tsp chopped garlic (lehsun)
- 1 tsp ginger-green chilli paste
- ¼ cup chopped tomatoes
- 1 tsp oil
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Blanch the spinach in hot water for a few seconds.
- Transfer it into cold water and drain.
- Purée the spinach to a paste and keep aside.
- Heat the oil in a non-stick pan, add the cumin seeds and allow them to crackle.
- Add the onions, garlic, ginger-green chilli paste and cook till the onions turn golden brown in colour, adding a little water to moisten if the onions burn.
- Add the spinach purée and tomatoes along with the ½ cup of water and cook for 3 minutes.
- Add the kabuli chana and salt and simmer for another 2 minutes.
- Serve hot with parathas.
